Tapas Acupressure Technique

TAT™ is an effortless and easy to learn technique. It is a deceptively simple, and can be used in self-help, and requires no diagnostic knowledge. TAT™ is an easy process that has been shown to reduce the effects of traumatic stress and help release negative beliefs. TAT™ has also been shown to help create inner peace, relaxation, empowerment and a feeling of well being. It combines lightly holding a few acupressure points on your head (The TAT pose) as you put your attention on a problem (the steps of TAT). This technique can help you improve any aspect of your life –it’s been called a “portal of Grace.”

TAT™ is no substitute for medical care. Be aware that when using TAT™, emotions, physical sensations or unresolved memories may surface. Previously vivid or traumatic memories may fade, which could adversely impact the ability to provide detailed legal testimony regarding a traumatic incident. The TAT™ Pose

With one hand, lightly touch the tip of the thumb to the area 1/8th inch above the inner corner of your eye.

With the ring finger of the same hand, lightly touch the tip of the finger to the area 1/8th inch above the inner corner of the other eye.

Place the tip of the middle finger at the point midway between and about ½ inch above the eyebrow level.

Now, place your other hand on the back of your head with the palm touching the head so that the thumb is resting at the base of the skull just above the hairline. Both hands should be resting gently.* No pressure is necessary.

You can rest your arms anytime you want. Eyes can be open or closed, and either hand can be in front.

Example using short TAT on a breakup:

Say: I do this session with the intention that the healing I am about to do will also benefit all of my ancestors, my family, everyone involved, all parts of myself and all points of view I have ever held.

 Step 1: The Problem

                         This breakup happened.
                         Everything that led up to this break-up happened.

 Write down all aspects that come up while you do the pose:

                        I didn’t want this to happen.
                        I can’t believe it’s happening to me.
                        Why now? 
                        I finally left him/her.
                        Did I do the right thing in leaving?

 Finish the steps with the first statement, and then go doing the steps with each of the statements that came up.

 Step 2: The Opposite 

                        The breakup occurred, and I’m healing now.
                        Everything that led up to this breakup happened, and I’m O.K.

STEP 3: The Places 

All the places in my mind, body and life where the effects of this breakup have been stored; are healing now. Thank you God.

 STEP 4: The Origins 

All the origins that led to this breakup are healing now; thank you God.

 STEP 5: Choosing 

I choose (whatever positive outcome you want related to this.)

 It’s important to acknowledge that the positive outcome we want may be for the relationship to be whole again, for my spouse or partner to come back. If that’s your choice say that now. (It may not be your spouse’s choice). Say whatever it true for you, not what you think you should say.

 Other choices might be:

                             I choose to feel safe.
                            I choose to know I will survive.
                           I choose to know that even if I feel miserable right now, I will get better. 
                           I see myself as a strong, vibrant, attractive woman/man.

 Step 6: Gratitude                       

                        God, thank you for integrating this healing now. 
                        This healing is completely integrated now, and I am grateful.

With Energy Psychology methods it is NOT necessary for you to re-live or re-experience past incidence for them to be healed, and this is such a mercy.
